Electronic Data Interchange Solutions – EDI

ediXpres™ and arXpres™ Accelerate Claims Management to Save Time, Boost Productivity, and Increase Revenues for Physician Group Practices

Boardman, OH (PRWEB) June 1, 2006 — For the medical office staff responsible for managing the business operations of a physician group practice, nothing is more frustrating than spending hour after hour on the phone as they call one insurer after another to track down the status of submitted claims.

What do they need? The ability to access one single source of continuously updated claims tracking data so they can perform real-time status checks directly from their PCs. Microsys Computing, Inc. now delivers this functionality with ediXpres™, a new electronic data interchange (EDI) module, for its MicroMD® practice management system. MicroMD is the top-rated software among all client/server systems in the 2005 “Top 20: Best in KLAS” rankings in the Ambulatory Billing & Scheduling category (for groups of 6 to 25 physicians).

“With ediXpres, MicroMD users directly access all their claims data for status checks,” said Ajit Kumar, Ph.D., president, Microsys Computing, Inc. “They can also verify patients’ insurance eligibility and coverage, either individually or in batch for all patients scheduled for a given day. That expedites patient check-in and helps medical groups collect all co-payments.”

Microsys has partnered with two clearinghouses, Electronic Network Systems (ENS), Colorado Springs, Colo. and Practice Insight, Houston, Texas. Using Web services technology for reliable, cross-platform data sharing over the Internet, the clearinghouses securely report all claims-related information on a continuous basis to users of MicroMD with ediXpres. The data are stored and updated in real-time in a data warehouse in MicroMD. With the event-driven design of the database, key data elements in MicroMD are automatically updated as information is transmitted from the clearinghouses. To check the status of a specific claim with ediXpres, users click one button and get up-to-date information within seconds, not hours or days. Or, they can launch claims status checks on all open claims, and they get a complete claims tracking/status report in just minutes. Moreover, with the ediXpres module, medical groups can also retrieve electronic remittance advice (ERA) files directly from the clearinghouses for multiple carriers, and MicroMD automatically posts the payments.

“ediXpres has given us greater control over claims management,” said Dori Baki, practice administrator, Neurosurgical Services, Inc., a five-provider specialty group practice in Lorain, Ohio.

A second new module, arXpres™, complements ediXpres. Based on settings established by individual group practices that use MicroMD, arXpres monitors the flow of claims information in the data warehouse. Specific events, such as a rejected claim, trigger an action alert to designated staff for fast follow-up to manage accounts receivable. arXpres informs staff efforts by automatically generating three work lists. The Insurance Claims Work List includes “fix-and-rebill” claims as well as those that have had no response from the insurer. The Insurance Appeals Work List flags all denied claims for follow-up through the carrier’s appeals process. The Patient Collectibles Work List highlights claims with an uncollected payment amount for which the patient is responsible.

“For more than two decades, we have directed all our efforts towards perfecting practice management software,” said Kumar. “ediXpres and arXpres represent our newest innovations for MicroMD and are designed to support our medical group customers as they strive to achieve practice excellence.”
